Teen In Critical Condition After Being Hit By Car In Nassau
The girl, who was likely walking to school, suffered massive trauma, police said.

A teenage girl is in critical condition after being hit by a car early Friday morning in Oceanside.
According to police, a 63-year-old man was driving a 1998 Lexus east on Foxhurst Road near Harvey Avenue when he hit a 14-year-old girl. Police say she suffered massive trauma and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. She is listed in critical condition.
The intersection is just a few blocks from Oceanside High School, where the girl is a freshman.

"This morning we learned that a ninth-grade student from Oceanside High School was hit by a car and was seriously injured,” district officials said in a statement. "Our support personnel are on hand to assist students, and our thoughts and prayers are with our student, her family and her friends as we wait for the news."
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
