UNIONDALE, NY — A Uniondale resident was taken to Nassau University Medical Center and treated for smoke inhalation after a house fire Thursday, the Nassau County Fire Marshal’s office said.
Fire officials said the house fire was called in at 12:22 p.m. Thursday, with the Uniondale Fire Department responding to a two-story private house and receiving mutual aid from the Freeport, Hempstead, Westbury and West Hempstead departments. In total, the 50-person firefighting crew took under an hour to get the blaze under control with no injuries reported to firefighters, fire officials said.
In the aftermath of the fire, the one civilian was hospitalized while an adult and five children were displaced from their home, fire officials said. The fire marshal’s office and NCPD arson/bomb squad are investigating to see what caused the fire Thursday, officials said.
