Veteran Long Island Educator Named RVC Superintendent Of Schools

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY — The Rockville Centre School District has named its new superintendent.
Matthew Gaven assumes the position on July 1, the district announced on its website.
Gaven was appointed the district's next superintendent on May 4. Robert Bartels, who has served as the interim superintendent, will return to his role as Assistant Superintendent for Business and Personnel.

"This is a wonderful exclamation point on a carefully executed search process," Board of Education President John O'Shea said in a statement. "Our Rockville Centre school community was fully involved and contributed significantly to the work of our search consultants and the Board of Education."
Gaven is a career Long Island educator, who currently serves as the Deputy Superintendent of the Mineola Public Schools. He started as an elementary teacher in the Garden City Public Schools.

"I have been privileged with a career path that I believe has fully prepared me for the position of Superintendent of Schools, and it is an honor to begin this phase of my professional journey in the highly regarded Rockville Centre Schools," Gaven said.
