FARMINGDALE, NY — The summer may be winding down, but the Village of Farmingdale is just getting into its busy season for eating and entertaining.

In an effort to welcome people back and introduce new patrons, the village is promoting its downtown with short television ads on local cable systems.

"A lot of new businesses are coming into town," Village trustee Walter Priestley told "Patch AM" on Tuesday. "Unless you've been here, it's hard to really appreciate the change that has occurred to the downtown."

So, the advertisements on FiOS and Altice highlight as many new businesses as possible.

Priestley said they started the ads last year as people came out of pandemic hibernation. This year, they took a fresh look, including some of the downtown events, such as the summertime "Music on Main" shows.

"Coming to the village of Farmingdale, going out for a night, it's not like you're driving into a storefront restaurant," Priestley said visitors will likely use one of the area parking lots. "In order to get to your destination, you usually walk by one of our pocket parks or our village green [and] you may hear live music coming out of the various venues."
