This Week In Rockville Centre: Excavator Truck Wedges Under Overpass, Assault Charges In Bar Fight, PD Says
The Rockville Centre Police Department released its weekly crime report Monday.
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY — Rockville Centre police released their crime report for the previous week Monday, reporting incidents between Mar. 30 and Apr. 6. The entries are as follows:
On Mar. 30 at 9:27 a.m., an employee of the Rockville Centre Electric Department reported that a Demott Avenue light pole had been damaged, police said.
On Mar. 30 at 11:20 a.m., a Canterbury Road woman said she had been the victim of a phone scam, with an unknown caller directing her to withdraw money from her account and deposit it into theirs, police said. Police did not say how much money, if any, was withdrawn.

On Mar. 30 at 9:37 p.m., a Central Islip resident reported the theft of money from the glove compartment of her car, which was parked on Merrick Road, police said.
On Mar. 31 at 1:25 p.m., a Columbia Road man said a check he placed in the mail had been altered, police said.

On Mar. 31 at 7:47 p.m., a 67-year-old Ongley Street man was found dead in his apartment, police said.
On Apr. 1 at 6:28 p.m., a Gateway resident said someone had opened a fraudulent account under her name with Verizon.
On Apr. 2 at 10:37 a.m., 42-year-old Hempstead resident Duan McManus was arrested and charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, as well as other traffic violations, after a North Centre Avenue investigation.
On Apr. 2 at 4:44 p.m., a trailer truck pulling an excavator made damaged three traffic lights and became wedged under an LIRR overpass after making a wrong turn onto North Centre Avenue, police said. Police said the driver received multiple summonses after the incident.
On Apr. 3 at 1:50 p.m., an Island Park man said his bike had been stolen after he left it unlocked in front of the Merrick Road Panera, police said.
On Apr. 4 at 2:19 a.m., police said Rockville Centre officers located an elderly man who had been reported missing from his Amityville home. He was hospitalized and later reunited with his family, police said.
On Apr. 4 at 3 p.m., a South Hempstead woman was struck by a car while crossing North Centre Avenue, suffering serious injuries, police said. The crash was non-fatal, police said.
On Apr. 5 at 1:39 a.m., 21-year-old San Diego resident Owen Turner was arrested after being involved in a fight outside a bar on North Village Avenue, police said. Police said Turner is now charged with third-degree assault.
