This Week In Rockville Centre: Fraudulent Texts, Hit And Run Crashes, Unlicensed Driving, Police Say
The Rockville Centre Police Department released its crime report for the week ending April 27 Monday.
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY — Rockville Centre police released their crime report for the previous week Monday, reporting 10 items between April 20 and April 27. The entries are as follows:
On April 20 at 4:27 p.m., a Banks Avenue woman said she received a scam phone call telling her that her bank accounts had been compromised, police said. According to police, the caller instructed the woman to deposit money into accounts not under her control.
On April 21 at 2:56 p.m., a 13-year-old girl told police she got off the school bus on North Long Beach Road near the intersection with Latimore Court when a man in a white van pointed at her and gestured toward the back of the van, police said. The girl was able to get home without any further incident and police are investigating the man in the van, police said.

On April 21 at 5:39 p.m., a Lincoln Avenue man said he received multiple text messages from a number claiming to be Chase Bank’s fraud department, police said. According to police, these texts told the man that his debit card had been used for fraudulent activity and instructed him to give the caller his debit card information; he complied with the demand and gave the caller his information, then withdrew a “large sum of money” that was picked up by an unknown person, police said.
On April 21 at 9:13 p.m., 43-year-old Rockville Centre resident Anthony Rodriguez was arrested and charged with second-degree criminal contempt after police investigated his home and found him in violation of a court order, police said.

On April 22 at 12 p.m., 64-year-old Rockaway resident Frank Rodriguez was arrested and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny after he was found to have stolen a wallet at King Kullen in February, police said.
On April 22 at 1:32 p.m., a Judson Place man told police his wife had left the house and that she suffered from dementia, police said. After a search that included the assistance of NCPD K9 and aviation units, police found her on Windsor Avenue, police said.
On April 23 at 12:20 p.m., 19-year-old Baldwin resident Erson Zuna was arrested after a car crash and charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, police said. According to police, a check of his license revealed it had seventeen suspensions on it.
On April 24 at 2:55 a.m., a resident of a group home on Merrick Road was reported missing to police, with staff at the group home saying they hadn’t been home for several days, police said. The person, who police said had previously been diagnosed with schizophrenia, was found two days later in Somerville, NJ, police said.
On April 25 at 4:27 p.m., a South Long Beach Road resident told police her husband — who suffers from Alzheimer’s — had wandered out of the house, police said. Police tracked the man down later that evening at an Oceanside Staples location, police said.
On April 26 at 7:20 p.m., an Oceanside man reported being hit by a vehicle in parking field #1, police said. The man suffered head and knee injuries while the vehicle fled the scene, police said.
