This Week In Rockville Centre: Threats On The Phone, Threats on The Bus, Police Say

The Rockville Centre Police Department released its weekly report Monday, detailing incidents that took place between Jan. 19 and Jan. 23.

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY. — Rockville Centre police released their crime report for the previous week Monday, reportingitems between Jan. 19 and Jan. 26. The entries are as follows:

On Jan. 19 at 2 p.m., a Manhattan woman said she had purchased a car at the Sunrise Highway Nissan dealership and asked her friend to pick it up for her. The friend, police said, never delivered the car.

On Jan. 19 at 3:51 p.m., a Citibank representative said someone had tampered with an ATM at their location on Merrick Road, police said.

On Jan. 20 at 9:52 a.m., police said a 35-year-old Far Rockaway man was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation and traffic offenses.

On Jan. 20 at 12:40 p.m., a 54-year-old Bronx man was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, circumventing and interlock device and other traffic violations after a Maple Avenue investigation, police said.

On Jan. 20 at 1 p.m., a South Park Avenue resident told police they had lost a pair of New York license plates, police said.

On Jan. 21 at 11:06 a.m., police said a house fire had been reported at a Hillside Avenue home that was in the process of being renovated.

On Jan. 21 at 5:34 p.m., a 57-year-old Uniondale man was arrested and charged with third-degree burglary after entering Sportset after hours and pilfering money from the register, police said.

On Jan. 22 at 7:29 a.m., police said a woman was discovered unresponsive in bed at her Maine Avenue nursing home. The woman was pronounced dead, police said.

On Jan. 22 at 9:09 p.m., police said a Merrick Road resident reported threatening texts and calls from an acquaintance of hers, which police said caused her to fear for her safety.

On Jan. 23 at 9:49 a.m., a 30-year-old Rockville Centre man was arrested on an open Nassau County warrant and charged with criminal contempt, police said.

On Jan. 23 at 11:03 a.m., police said a Far Rockaway resident reported that she had been threatened with a knife while riding a NICE bus on Merrick Road.
