Woman, 84, Rescued After Downed Utility Pole Sparks Nassau House Fire During Nor'easter: PD

OCEANSIDE, NY — An 84-year-old woman was saved after a fire that broke out in Oceanside during the nor'easter this weekend, police said.

According to Nassau County police, the incident took place at 11:05 p.m. Saturday night.

Fourth Precinct Officers responded to a call for a residential house fire on Harding Street, police said.

Upon arrival, officers observed a utility pole with wires on the ground and flames emanating from the side of the residence, police said.

Officers utilized a fire extinguisher from their patrol vehicles to contain the flames and prevent them from spreading, before gaining entry into the residence to search for occupants, police said.

Officers located an 84-year-old female inside the home and immediately escorted her to safety, police said.

The Oceanside Fire Department also responded to assist, police said.

No injuries were reported, police said.
