Woman Burned When Couch Caught Fire: Rockville Centre Police

The Rockville Centre Police Department reported the following incidents for the week ending May 20.
Fire
- On May 13 at 8:38 a.m., a resident of Jefferson Avenue suffered a burn to her arm when a candle lit her couch on fire. The fire was extinguished by the Rockville Centre Fire Department and the woman was transported to the hospital for treatment of her injuries.

- On May 14 at 1:27 p.m., the Rockville Centre Police Department and Rockville Centre Building Department executed a search warrant at a Lakeview Avenue home to check for suspected hazardous conditions. During the investigation, the premise was deemed uninhabitable due to unsanitary conditions, as well as numerous electrical, fire and safety hazards.
Assault
- On May 19 at 1:55 p.m., a Rockville Centre resident reported that she was assaulted by an acquaintance while outside of a restaurant on Sunrise Highway.

- On May 19 at 11:41 a.m., a Rockville Centre resident reported that someone stole property from her car while it was parked on Clinton Avenue.
Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident
- On May 11 at 2:32 p.m., a resident of Merrick reported that while sitting in his parked car in a private parking lot on N. Village Avenue, another vehicle struck his and left the scene.
- On May 14 at 4:34 Pp.m.M, a manager of Rockville Centre GMC reported that a woman driving a Ford Mustang struck a GMC Terrain parked on Sunrise Highway and left the scene.
Arrests
- On May 12 at 10:50 p.m., Viry Barrera, 19, of Hempstead, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after police say she struck two trees and a fence on Hempstead Avenue.
- On May 13 at 9:05 a.m., Trinette Perez, 44, of Valley Stream, was arrested and charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and operating a suspended motor vehicle, after police say she was observed operating a vehicle on Sunrise Highway, pursuant to a license plate reader hit.
