Woman Stole Over $48,000 From Rockville Centre Dentist: Police

The woman also stole money while working for a Valley Stream dentist, police say.

ISLAND PARK, NY - An Island Park woman was arrested on Monday for stealing over $56,000 while working at dentists' offices in Rockville Centre and Valley Stream, according to Nassau Police.

Between September 2014 and November 2014, 45-year-old Deborah Ervin, was employed by a Rockville Centre dentist as an office manager/bookkeeper, according to police.

During that time she took cash payments from patients and failed to deposit them into the business account, police said.

The dentist also discovered between December 2014 and January 2016, Ervin made unauthorized debits from the victim's business account to pay personal bills, causing a total loss to the victim of over $48,000, according to police.

Between November 2015 and February 2016, she was employed as a receptionist for a dentist in Valley Stream, police said.

During this time, she took cash payments from patients and failed to deposit them in the business account, causing a loss to the dentist of over $8,000, police said.

On Monday afternoon, detectives from the Crimes Against Property Squad and the Fifth Squad responded to Ervin's home and placed her under arrest without incident, according to police.

She is charged with three counts of third degree grand larceny and two counts of falsifying business records, according to police.

She will be arraigned on Tuesday.
