• Suffolk reports first human West Nile virus case of season as mosquito positives rise (riverheadlocal.com) — West Nile virus–positive mosquitoes have been found in Rocky Point, as Suffolk County also confirms this season's first human case in Brookhaven. Health officials urge residents, especially those over 50, to avoid mosquito bites, watch for flu-like symptoms, and report dead birds or mosquito problems to county agencies for follow-up.
