The Osborn will present Lisa Napoli, author of “Susan, Linda, Nina and Cokie: The Extraordinary Story of the Founding Mothers of NPR,” on Wednesday, May 20 at 7:00 pm. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held at The Osborn Auditorium (101 Theall Road, Rye, NY).
Journalist Lisa Napoli writes about Susan Stamberg, Linda Wertheimer, Nina Totenberg and Cokie Roberts, the four pioneering women who broke barriers in journalism at National Public Radio (NPR) in the 70’s. The book details the deep friendships, their individual struggles against gender bias in the news industry and how they helped transform public radio into a major news source, paving the way for future generations of women in media. Napoli will also address the current funding situation with public media and the future of NPR.
