3 Boaters Heard Shouting For Help After Vessel Sinks In LI Sound Rescued By Marine Units

The three were found in the water about 45 minutes after their boat sank near Manursing Island, and were brought to Playland.

RYE, NY — Three boaters were rescued from the waters off Manursing Island after their vessel sank.

The Rye Police Department Marine Unit responded after reports of people shouting for help in the water. Rye Police Marine Unit PB1 and the Westchester County Police Marine Unit went to the area and found the three in the water after their vessel had sunk about 45 minutes earlier, according to the department.

The three boaters were safely rescued and taken by the Westchester County Police Marine Unit to Playland. They declined medical attention, according to the information released by the City of Rye Police Department.

"This incident highlights the strong partnership between the Rye Police Department and Westchester County Police Department Marine Units and their continued commitment to keeping our waterways safe," Rye police said in a statement.

Sea Tow also responded to assist with recovery of the sunken vessel.
