Mutual aid from nearby departments helped knock down hot spots, and officials believe the damage is repairable while investigators continue probing what appears to be an accidental blaze.
2. Registration Open for First Public Workshop to Shape Rye's New Comprehensive Plan (ryerecord.com) — Rye residents are being asked to register now for an Oct. 14 public workshop at the Rye Free Reading Room that will help shape the city's first new comprehensive plan in 40 years. The session will feature a brief presentation and small-group discussions on development, housing, transportation, environment, parks, and the downtown, giving neighbors a direct say in Rye's long-term priorities.
3. New Foundation, Award Honoring Hamish Fenton Unveiled at Rye and New York Giants Football Games (ryerecord.com) — Rye residents are honoring 14-year-old Hamish Fenton's legacy with a new local foundation and annual Hamish's Difference Award, first presented at Nugent Stadium to Rye senior Benji Kaplan. 4. Rye Arts Center Sets Nov. 5 Ladies Comedy Night (myrye.com) — Rye residents can mark their calendars for the Rye Arts Center's 20th annual Ladies Comedy Night on Wednesday, November 5, at the Community Synagogue of Rye. The evening features a Sushi & Sip happy hour, a luxury raffle, and a lineup of stand-up comedians, with proceeds funding scholarships so local children can access arts programs regardless of family finances.
