Molinaro Chooses Rye Politician As Running Mate

His choice ran twice for state senator.

RYE, NY — State gubernatorial candidate Marc Molinaro has chosen a running mate to join him on the Republican ticket in November. Former Rye City Councilwoman Julie Killian will run for lieutenant governor.

Killian ran unsuccessfully in April for the state senate seat made vacant when Democrat George Latimer became Westchester County executive.

In a comment on Facebook, Molinaro said Killian was a “competent, capable and compassionate wife, mother and woman. Julie has stood down the worst thrown at her, picked herself up and wants to keep up the fight for New Yorkers.”

Killian is a mother of five with a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Notre Dame and a master’s degree in finance from New York University, according to a spokeswoman.

Molinaro is hoping to unseat Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat, in the fall. He and his running mate are seeking to run on the Republican, Conservative and Reform Party ballot Lines.
