$14M In Federal Funds Slated For Long Island MacArthur Airport: Report

RONKONKOMA, NY — The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act will provide $14 million in funding for Long Island MacArthur Airport in Ronkonkoma, Long Island Business News reported.

The funding, which will be allocated by the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Terminal Program, will be dedicated to the airport's terminal and energy-efficiency upgrades, such as fire and life safety systems in compliance with current building codes and energy efficiency at the main terminal, the outlet reported.

The funding will also pave the way for plans for a new, more energy-efficient generator at the airport, according to the outlet.

In a statement after a recent visit to the airport, Sen. Kristen Gillibrand told the outlet that the airport “needs to be safe, modern, and efficient in order to facilitate tourism and spur local economic growth."
