19-Year-Old Stabbed In Fight In Shopping Center Parking Lot In Selden: Police
An 18-year-old, who sped away from the scene, was pulled over in a traffic stop and placed under arrest, Suffolk police say.
SELDEN, NY — A 19-year-old was seriously wounded after being stabbed in a fight in the parking lot of a shopping center in Selden on Wednesday night, Suffolk police said.
Richard Torres, 18, of Middle Island, stabbed the 19-year-old at around 11 p.m., and a friend drove him to an area hospital where he is in serious but stable condition, according to police.
Torres sped away from the scene in a 2015 Nissan sedan, and a short time later, officers from the 6th Precinct found the car in Coram, initiated a traffic stop, and placed him in custody, police said, adding that he was charged with second-degree assault.

He is being held overnight at the 6th Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District
Court in Central Islip on Thursday.
