2 Busted For Selling Vapes To Minors In Selden And Middle Island: Police

They were charged with second-degree unlawfully dealing with a child, a misdemeanor, Suffolk police say.

SELDEN, NY — Two people were charged in connection with selling vape products to an underage person during compliance checks at businesses in Middle Island and Selden on Friday, Suffolk police said.

In response to community complaints, 6th Precinct's Investigative Unit officers conducted an investigation into the sale of tobacco products to underage people during which eight businesses were checked for compliance with the law, police said, adding that during the investigation, two businesses were found to be selling vape products to an underage person.

A 31-year-old from Selden who is an employee of Convenience Tobacco in Selden, and a 30-year-old from Sound Beach, who is an employee of MI Convenience and Smoke Shop in Middle Island were charged with second-degree unlawfully dealing with a child, a misdemeanor, police said.

Investigators seized flavored vape products from MI Convenience and Smoke Shop, according to police.

The pair were issued Field Appearance Tickets and are scheduled to appear at First District Court in Central Islip on a later date.
