2 Injured After Shots Fired Into Moving Car

The driver who was hit by metal fragment was able to drive to a nearby 7-Eleven where a call was made to 911 Thursday night.

FARMINGVILLE, NY – Two people were injured after shots were fired into a moving car in Suffolk County Thursday night, police said.

According to police, a 22-year-old man was driving a Hyundai Sonata west on Mooney Pond Road near Bicycle Path in Farmingville around 10:45 p.m. when multiple shots were fired into the passenger side of the vehicle.

The man was struck in the head by a metal fragment and a 20-year-old female passenger in the front seat was struck by broken glass, police said. Neither the driver nor the passenger was struck by any of the shots.

The driver continued westbound to a 7-Eleven store on Mooney Pond Road where a call was made to 911. The man and woman were transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

No arrests have been made. Sixth Squad detectives are continuing to investigate.
