2 People Seriously Hurt After Being Struck By SUV On Long Island

A 22-year-old woman and an 19-year-old man was seriously injured, police say.

LAKE RONKONKOMA, NY – Two people were seriously injured after they were struck by an SUV in Lake Ronkonkoma Monday night, police said.

According to police, Jennifer Wendal, 22, and Kevin Cruz, 19, both of Ronkonkoma, were crossing Ronkonkoma Avenue near Division Road when they were struck by a 2010 Chevrolet SUV heading south at about 8:30 p.m. Wendal and Cruz were transported Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the SUV, a 23-year-old Bohemia man, remained at the scene and was not injured. No criminal charges have been filed.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact Fourth Squad detectives at 631-854-8452.
