5 Fire Departments Battle Massive Blaze At Retreat Center

LAKE RONKONKOMA, NY – Five fire departments battled a blaze that broke out in a vacant building at the Cenacle Retreat Center in Lake Ronkonkoma Tuesday afternoon.

The fire on Cenacle Road started around 4:30 p.m. The building was fully engulfed in flames when Ronkonkoma Fire Department Chief Kevin Murray arrived on the scene. Assistance was called in from the Farmingville, Nesconset, Centereach and Holtsville fire departments.

Firefighters battled the blaze for well over an hour before it was placed under control. No injuries were reported. A Brookhaven Town fire marshal and the Suffolk County Police Arson Squad are investigating due to the suspicious nature of the fire.
