HOLBROOK, NY — The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has opened an investigation into an incident in which two people were hurt when a tank was damaged, causing an explosion at a recycling facility in Holbrook on June 30, a spokeswoman said.
Employees were working at Arrow Metal and E-Waste Recycling on Lincoln Avenue, when the tank was damaged at around 7:30 a.m., Suffolk police said.
It is not known what kind of gas was in the tank, a police spokeswoman said.
The two people suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and one was taken to the hospital, according to police.
A man who answered the phone at the facility confirmed that OSHA had visited the site, inspected it, and said, "everything went well."
He declined to comment further.
