RONKONKOMA, NY — Breeze Airways is now booking nonstop service between Long Island MacArthur Airport and Tampa International Airport, with twice-weekly service to begin Jan. 6, Islip Town officials said.
The service, which will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays using Airbus A220 aircraft, includes introductory fares starting at $129 at FlyBreeze.com.
With the addition of Tampa, Breeze will serve 10 nonstop destinations from the airport, including Fort Myers, Vero Beach, and Sarasota in Florida; Wilmington and Raleigh-Durham in North Carolina; Charleston and Myrtle Beach in South Carolina, and Norfolk and Richmond in Virginia.
Supervisor Angie Carpenter said officials are delighted to see Breeze continue to expand its offerings at the airport.
"Long Island travelers are enjoying Breeze’s ‘Seriously Nice’ service, and our community remains committed to working with air carriers to provide more options for local residents and visitors looking to experience all that our region has to offer," she said.
Airport Commissioner Rob Schneider said that customers are responding positively to Breeze’s expanding options.
"These two weekly nonstops, together with four weekly BreezeThru options, give Long Island travelers six convenient ways each week to reach Tampa Bay," he said. "We thank Breeze for its continued confidence in ISP and investment in the Long Island market,”
Councilman John Lorenzo said that the new nonstop service "strengthens Long Island’s connections to important markets and supports economic development by encouraging tourism, business travel and job growth."
"Breeze’s continued expansion at MacArthur Airport is a positive investment in our region,” he added.
