2nd Man In Day Escapes Vehicle Before It Becomes 'Fully Engulfed' In Centereach: Police

CENTEREACH, NY — The second local man in a day escaped his vehicle before it became fully engulfed, this time in Centereach, Suffolk police said.

The man called 911 at around 10:15 p.m., reporting that his 2020 Land Rover was overheating, as he pulled into his driveway, police said, adding that it caught fire.

The Centereach Fire Department extinguished the fire, according to police.

He was not harmed in the incident.

A 21-year-old man was driving a Honda sedan northbound on North Ocean Avenue, approaching Woodside Avenue, in North Patchogue, when the vehicle started smoking from under the hood on Monday afternoon, according to police.

He pulled off the road and got out of the vehicle before it became fully engulfed in flames, and the North Patchogue Fire Department responded to extinguish the fire, police said.

The man was also not hurt, according to police.
