CENTEREACH, NY — A Port Jefferson Station man died in a Centereach crash early Saturday, police said.
According to Suffolk County police, the single-vehicle crash took place on Nesconset Highway, east of Nicolls Road, at about 12:30 a.m.
Herson Almonte, 42, was driving a 2026 Kawasaki motorcycle eastbound on Nesconset Highway, east of Nicolls Road, when he lost control of the motorcycle and struck the center divider of the roadway, police said.
Almonte was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The motorcycle was impounded for a safety check; detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
