HOLBROOK, NY — A woman was charged with prostitution during a massage parlor raid — as part of a joint investigation involving Suffolk's Human Trafficking Unit — in Holbrook on Wednesday night, police said.
The investigation, which was prompted by community complaints, included officers from the Crime and patrol units, as well as detectives from the 5th Precinct in Patchogue, the county's community support and anti-crime units, and the Town of Islip's Fire Marshal's office, according to police.
At around 5:45 p.m., the employee, a 38-year-old from Flushing who was at Blue Ocean Spa on Grundy Avenue, was charged with two counts of prostitution and one count of unauthorized practice of a profession, police said.
She was issued a desk appearance ticket and is scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court in Central Islip at a later date, according to police.
The fire marshal and town's Ordinance Inspector also issued several violations to the business, police said.
