SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — A $1 million settlement was approved by lawmakers in connection with a Selden man who was hurt in a crash after a police officer ran a red light in January 2020, Newsday reported.
When Sgt. Richard Grice crashed his police SUV into Michael Franco's vehicle at a Centereach intersection, he suffered "serious" and "permanent" injuries, according to court filings obtained by the outlet.
The Legislature unanimously approved the rare bond vote to borrow money for the settlement on Wednesday, with two legislators absent.
