Pre-K/K Team:
On Saturday, 4/21, the Pre-K/K team notched their first victory against SSC after ending in a tie last week. The team won with a balanced attack, with five different kids, Jason Campbell, Zachary Marco, Brady Monteleone, Dylan Snak, and Nicholas Trotta recording goals. The defense responded well and didn’t allow any breakaway goals, anchored by a solid performance by Ethan Liebling in goal. With inspiring play and relentless effort to not give up this team is on the right path for a very successful season.

The 1st grade team dropped a tough game to an excellent East Islip team. The team got progressively better as the game went on, especially on defense, with solid play by Andrew Macchio and Nick Meoni. The Saints got goals from Jason Kassis, Dillon Osorio and Jeremiah Slaven. AJ Torres and Aidan Kilpatrick played valiantly in goal, to try and keep the game close. Continued effort and hard work should keep this team progressing nicely.

SYAG boys came out slow in the start of their game vs. W. Hampton, but picked it up after halftime. Down by 4 goals, Sachem came back and fought hard to tie the game with 2 minutes to go. Brandon Pazienza played great in the cage coming up with a total of 9 saves. Dalton Lawrence, Shaun Ayers, Aaron Singh, & Ghavin McArthur had some big takeaways on defense and came up with a total of 10 ground balls. Shaun Ayers cleared the ball and had an assist on Peter Ferrizz’s game tying goal. Peter Ferrizz lead the team with 5 goals and could not have done it with out outstanding play by mid-fielders Alex Scichilone (1A/5GB), Nick Giorgi (4GB), Brian Moir (4GB), and Dillon Osorio. JT Arena(2G/1A/5GB) had a great game, once taking the ball end to end drawing two slashes to the head and burying the ball in the cage for a goal.
The Sachem boys played a very good game against a tough W. Hampton team who won the game with just 20 seconds left.
5th Grade Team:
The SYAG 5th Grade boys Lacrosse team went to West Point on April 14th to watch the Army-Navy Game and met with the players and the coaches. The team was thrilled with seeing the college game and to learn from the coaches. The players signed autographs for all of the players and the SYAG name was announced during the beginning of the game. The team went up in a coach bus and had a bbq afterward and played lacrosse on one of their fields. It was a great day for everyone and wonderful experience for the boys to do something together as a team.
The SYAG 5th grade boys played a great game against the Center Moriches Youth Group on Sunday April 22. The boys executed the plays that they have been taught in practices by Coach Behrens and Coach Demsen. The boys made passes and were able to defeat the team 11-0. The 5th grade team was very excited for their win and will hopefully continue to use their skills that they learn in practice to more victories!
