Brookhaven To Close Beaches, Pools Starting At 9 p.m. Saturday
The closures are in preparation for Tropical Storm Henri, which is on a track headed for Long Island.
FARMINGVILLE, NY — Brookhaven Town officials have announced all town recreational facilities will be closed as of 9 p.m. on Saturday in anticipation of Tropical Storm Henri which is headed for Long Island.
All parks and recreation programs have been canceled and all pools, beaches, and marinas; as well as recreation, senior, and nature centers will remain closed until further notice. The parking lot at Port Jefferson Harbor will also be closed.
The storm is expected to bring heavy rainfall and severe wind gusts on Sunday into Monday, and flooding is also expected, especially along the north shore, town officials said. The Town will open its Emergency Operation Center at 9 a.m. on Sunday to provide around-the-clock hurricane monitoring while it approaches and tracks over Long Island.
