Brookhaven Extends Beach, Pool, And Rec Center Hours Due To Impending Heatwave
It will run from Thursday, July 2 through Friday, July 3 to provide residents with more opportunities to stay cool and safe.
FARMINGVILLE, NY — The impending heat wave forecast for Long Island has prompted Brookhaven officials to extend operating hours and lifeguard coverage at beaches and
pools from Thursday, July 2 through Friday, July 3 to provide residents with more opportunities to stay cool
while enjoying safe, supervised recreational facilities.
Residents are encouraged to stay hydrated, limit prolonged exposure to the sun, wear lightweight clothing, and
check on elderly neighbors, family members, and others who may be vulnerable to heat-related illnesses.
The move came as Suffolk officials warned about proper water safety, as more residents are expected to hit beaches and pools this week to cool off.
