Brookhaven Town Police Blotter: Aug. 3 to Aug. 10, 2026

BROOKHAVEN TOWN, NY — Suffolk's first responders were busy last week, according to the Suffolk County Police Department and other first responders’ logs.

Here's a snapshot of some incidents and arrests:

CORAM

• Insulation caught fire at a Westfield Road home in Coram where workers were on a job at around 3:13 p.m. on Thursday. The Middle Island Fire Department responded to extinguish the fire. No injuries were reported.
• Semir Nikocevic, 34, of Ronkonkoma, was charged with second-and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon after police say he was found passed out with a gun in his vehicle on Middle Country Road in Coram on Aug. 5. He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in First District Court in Central Islip and was released on bail with no monetary conditions, online court records show.

NORTH BELLPORT

• A 31-year-old East Patchogue woman was charged with third-degree assault and possession of noxious matter after police say she was involved in an altercation in which she had pepper spray at a bus stop in North Bellport on July 1.
• A Domino's pizza delivery man was robbed of the pizza he was delivering and his cell phone on Bellport Avenue in North Bellport at 1:23 a.m. on Aug. 6.

MASTIC

• A Mastic man was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon after police say he was caught with a weapon at his Overlook Drive home, in violation of his parole, on Aug. 3.
• Leo Gyles, 50, of Mastic was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny after police say he swiped someone's TD Bank debit card from a location in Farmingville on Aug. 5. He will be arraigned on Aug. 25.
• Officers responded to a dispute between a landlord and tenant at a home on Southaven Avenue in Mastic at 9:40 p.m. on Thursday.
• A 2009 Mitsubishi sedan was stopped in traffic northbound on Mastic Road in Mastic when a 2012 Hyundai struck it in the rear at around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The driver of the Mitsubishi was taken to NYU Langone Hospital - Suffolk in East Patchogue with non-life-threatening injuries.

MASTIC BEACH

• A 19-year-old was nabbed for making graffiti at a house on Longfellow Drive in Mastic Beach on Aug. 4.
• An electrical line for an air conditioner was reported cut on Neighborhood Road in Mastic Beach at around 1 a.m. on Aug. 7.

MEDFORD

• A pair of people, Kelvin Ransom, 57, of Medford, and Jade Maya, 36, of Mastic, were charged with fourth-degree grand larceny on Aug. 4 after police say they stole items from Costco in Nesconset back in 2025. Ransom is set to appear in court for his arraignment in First District Court in Central Islip on Aug. 24, online court records show. Maya's arraignment information was not available.

PATCHOGUE

• A bicyclist was traveling southbound on Hospital Road in Patchogue when the operator of a 2021 Toyota SUV failed to yield while making a right turn to enter a driveway, and the bike struck the vehicle just before 7 p.m. on Thursday. No one was hurt.
• A man reported being punched by a bouncer at a bar on South Ocean Avenue in Patchogue and then having to go to NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk for treatment at about 4 a.m. on Aug. 8.
• Luis Uzho Palomino, 54, of Patchogue police say was charged with felony driving while intoxicated and aggravated DWI on West Main Street in Patchogue on Aug. 9. Palomino has a previous conviction within the last 10 years, police said. He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in First District Court in Central Islip, online court records show.

PORT JEFFERSON

• Officers were called to a verbal dispute between two residents of Echo Arms Adult Home on Route 112 in Port Jefferson at around 8:10 p.m. on Sunday. It was over before they arrived.
• A 34-year-old Port Jefferson man was charged with third-degree assault on Aug. 7 after police say he was involved in a bar fight on Main Street and three people were sent to a local hospital for treatment. Further details were not available.

RIDGE

• A pair of teens swiped marijuana and vape pens from someone on Williamsburg Court in Ridge on Aug. 6, police said. The pair, Sincere McFall, 18, of Ridge, and a 17-year-old from Rocky Point, were charged with first-degree robbery. It's not clear if anyone was hurt in the incident. No other information was available.

SELDEN

• An 86-year-old Selden man was charged with third-degree assault after police say he pulled someone's arm and caused scratches on Boyle Road in Selden on Aug. 9.

SHIRLEY

• Blaise Marckesano, 41, of Shirley was charged with second-degree burglary on Aug. 3 after police say he broke into a home on Happy Acres Drive in Shirley, damaged property, and swiped items back in May 2025.
• Richard Elgins, 50, of Shirley was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon on Aug. 4 after police say he fired a gun into the air on Poospatuck Lane on the Poospatuck Reservation in Mastic. No one was hurt, police said.

SOUND BEACH

• An E-Bike and a motor vehicle were involved in a crash on New York Avenue in Sound Beach at around 7:21 p.m. on Sunday. No one was hurt.

YAPHANK

• A man reported an incident of road rage on Victory Avenue in Yaphank at 10:49 a.m. on Aug. 9.
