BROOKHAVEN TOWN, NY — Suffolk's first responders were kept busy in recent weeks, according to the department's logs.

LAKE RONKONKOMA
A person reported that while they were putting groceries in their car, an unknown male approached them and demanded money on Feb. 16 at 6:30 p.m.

MASTIC
Two 42-year-old people from Mastic were charged with torturing and/or injuring an animal last week, police said.
The man and woman were charged in connection with the care of two dogs, a French Bulldog, and a Pomeranian, at their home on Hampton Avenue on Feb. 13, according to police. Each was charged with two counts of neglect or an injured animal and one count of torturing an animal or failing to provide sustenance, police said.
MEDFORD
- A person reported that a male approached them and threatened them by saying "I will kill you" on Mount Vernon Avenue in Medford at around 7:30 p.m. on Feb . 18.
- A 32-year-old Freeport man was charged with second-degree menacing after police say he used an axe to smash the windshield of a vehicle, and shards of glass went in the driver's eye, on Feb. 19. The female driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment, according to police.
RONKONKOMA
- A robber pulled a knife on a clerk and made off with some cash from USA Gas Station on Portion Road at around 10:43 p.m. on Friday.
- A burglar went inside the window of a home on Pine Avenue between 3:30 and 6:30 p.m. and swiped some cash.
SELDEN
A 23-year-old Selden man exposed himself while urinating in the driveway of a Campus Drive home on Sunday morning, police said. He was charged with exposure of a person, according to police.
SHIRLEY
- A passerby reported seeing a person who did not live at a Windus Avenue home coming from its backyard carrying bags on Feb. 17 at around 7:31 p.m.
- A 38-year-old Shirley man had a stolen 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee that he filed state Department of Motor Vehicle forms stating that he was the owner, police said. Joseph Mussi was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny and falsifying business documents, according to police. His arraignment information was not available.
TERRYVILLE
A Selden man was assaulted an officer after trespassing at a home in Terryville on Saturday, police said.
Christopher Richter, 43, went inside the backyard of a home on Brookhaven Boulevard without permission, and while there, kicked a dog, at around 7:20 p.m., according to police. He was additionally charged with third-degree criminal trespass, torturing/injuring or not feeding an animal, and resisting arrest, all misdemeanors, police said.
He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment and was released on $1 bail, online court records show.
He is due back in court on Feb. 28, according to the records.
