Brookhaven Town Police Blotter: Feb. 23

A snapshot of some recent police activity in the town.

BROOKHAVEN TOWN, NY — The reports below are excerpts from Suffolk police's 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th precincts that comprise Brookhaven Town.

Criminal charges do not indicate a conviction.

  • A man was beaten outside of El Limeno Restaurant in Patchogue late Friday night, police said. He was approached on Montauk Highway by about three others whom he did not know just before midnight and he was struck by one of them and injured, said police, adding that he transported himself to a local hospital for treatment of "non-life-threatening injuries." No arrests have been made in connection with the incident, which police have classified as an assault.
  • An unknown male used a piece of cement to break a glass door at Blue Moon Beer and Soda on Main Street in Holbrook at about 2:30 a.m. on Friday and stole cash, cigarettes, and Lotto tickets, police said. Police are investigating a rash of similar commercial burglaries that have occurred in the area since the fall. One suspect has been arrested for burglaries in January, but it is unclear if there is a connection to all of the burglaries that have taken place. Police are continuing their investigation, a spokeswoman said Wednesday.
  • Someone reached through a broken back door and stole tools and shoes at a home on Michigan Avenue in North Bellport sometime between Feb. 14 and Feb. 16.
  • The door of a detached garage was forced open and wood and vinyl siding were stolen from a home on Stanley Drive in Centereach sometime between last Thursday and Friday.
  • The door of a detached garage was pried open and landscaping equipment was stolen, as well as other unspecified instruments were stolen from a home on Hounslow Dr. in Mastic at about 5 a.m. on last Thursday.
  • The screen window of the bedroom of a Mill Road home in Lake Ronkonkoma was broken sometime between 7:30 and 10 p.m. on Friday and currency and jewelry were stolen.
  • A glass door at Ralphie's Chicken and Gyro on Route 112 in Coram was broken at about 8:40 p.m. on Monday and cash was removed.
