Car Overturns in Crash Near LIRR Tracks in Holbrook

A man escaped injury after his vehicle overturned and came to rest just feet from the Long Island Rail Road tracks in Holbrook early Wednesday.

The Holbrook Fire Department was alerted to the accident at the intersection of Coates Avenue and Railroad Avenue just before 1 a.m.

Upon arrival, commanding Chief Rich Stack advised incoming units that the vehicle had overturned but the driver was able to free himself from the car. Due to the overturned vehicle being so close to the railroad tracks, Stack requested the LIRR freeze any railroad activity near that location until the scene was clear.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured and refused any medical attention from fire-rescue personnel.
