Children Playing in Lake Ronkonkoma Find Hand Grenade
The grenade appears to have been in the water for some time, police say.

Children playing in the water in Lake Ronkonkoma found a hand grenade with its pin still intact on Sunday.
The scary find occurred just before 7 p.m. at the Town of Brookhaven’s Navy SEAL Lt. Michael P. Murphy Memorial Park.
A 911 caller told police that the children had picked up what they thought was a rock before it was determined to be something much more sinister.
