Chilling Video Shows LI Man Gunned Down On LIRR Train: Report

In video obtained by The New York Post, a gunman can be seen coming up behind Yusef Staine, 20, and then shooting him in the head.

RONKONKOMA, NY — The moment that a 20-year-old Long Island man was shot to death aboard a Manhattan-bound Long Island Rail Road train parked at the Ronkonkoma station was captured in a chilling video, according to a report in The New York Post.

In the video, which was obtained by the outlet, the gunman can be seen walking down the aisle of the train, coming up behind Yusef Staine, pull a gun from out of his pants, then shoot him in the head.

Suffolk police said Staine was shot by a man who "appeared to be traveling" with him while he was on board a westbound train that was parked at the station at about 1:45 a.m. on Feb. 16, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

No one else was injured in the shooting, police said.

Homicide chief Det. Lt. Kevin Beyrer told Newsday that the shooting is not random and not believed to be gang-related.

"It's early in the investigation but all we know is that the two people appear to be traveling together," he added.

Beyrer went on to say that only two or three other passengers were on the train at the time, and they were not in danger.

"This appears to be an isolated event. It does not appear to have any connection to any other incidents in the past," he said.

The shooter remains at large.

Staine's mother, Pamela Usher, told ABC reporter Kristin Thorne: "He was killed, and we need the person who did it to come forward."

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392, or Crime Stoppers, a confidential police hotline, at 1-800-220-TIPS.
