From Sachem Schools:As part of a recent physical education class, third-, fourth- and fifth-grade students at Chippewa Elementary School in the Sachem Central School District learned floorball, courtesy of a program sponsored by the New York Islanders hockey team.
During the unit, students learned numerous hockey skills, such as stick handling, passing and shooting. As the students progressed with their new skills, they were then put to the test in several floorball games before they collectively played a game of traditional floorball. The floorball unit served as an excellent opportunity to introduce a new sport to students and strengthen the skills of students who were familiar with hockey.
