Clown-Related Social Media Accounts Threaten Sachem North

BREAKING: It is unclear who is posting the messages as police continue to investigate.

A day after Suffolk County became the center of creepy clown hysteria, threats are being made toward Sachem High School North on social media platforms.

On Saturday night, someone using the handle @LiClowns (which has more than 4,700 followers) on Twitter posted the following tweets:

A Snapchat account associated with the same user also posted the following:

The social media accounts have also posted threats toward Kings Park, West Babylon, Deer Park and Riverhead.

The Sachem Central School District has posted the following statement on its website:

The Sachem Central School District became aware of recent activity on social media related to threats from clown accounts in the Suffolk County area. The district has been in communication with the Suffolk County Police Department in relation to these social media posts and the police department has found no credible threats. Sachem will continue to monitor this situation and keep in close contact with the police department. We will keep the community updated if anything new arises.

The Suffolk Police Department says it will no longer release information on specific reports of clown sightings. If you see someone dressed as a clown in the Sachem-area, please email ryan@patch.com with the details.
