CT Woman, 'Communicating Primarily' Through The Discord App, Coerced LI Boy Into Sexual Activity: DOJ

LONG ISLAND, NY — A Connecticut woman has been arrested in connection with coercing a Long Island boy she met online into sexual activity, the U.S. Attorney's office said.

Amy Colon, a 31-year-old woman from Wethersfield, CT, who identified herself as “Alice,” started an online relationship with a 13-year-old boy in New York, communicating primarily through the Discord app, and the conversations became sexually explicit, prosecutors said.

Colon coerced the minor to send her a sexually explicit video of himself, and in turn, she sent sexually explicit images and videos of herself, then on June 26, she traveled to Long Island, picked up the minor, and brought him to her residence in Wethersfield, where she tried to engage in sexual activity, according to prosecutors.

Colon drove the minor victim back to Long Island the next day, dropping him off a few blocks away from his home, prosecutors said.

The criminal complaint charges Colon with attempted coercion and enticement of a minor, and with transportation of a minor to engage in sexual activity, according to prosecutors.

Each offense carries a mandatory minimum of 10 years imprisonment and a maximum of life.

Colon was ordered detained after her arraignment.

U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut David Sullivan stressed a criminal complaint is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt.

The investigation is being conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation New Haven Child Exploitation Task Force, the FBI’s Long Island Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, and the Suffolk County Police Department, with the help of the Wethersfield Police Department.

The prosecution is part of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Project Safe Childhood Initiative, which is aimed at protecting children from sexual abuse and exploitation.
