Driver Seriously Hurt in Lake Ronkonkoma Crash

Police say the driver may have suffered a "medical event" before SUV crashes into tree Thursday night.

A man driving an SUV may have suffered a “medical event” before the vehicle crashed into a tree in Lake Ronkonkoma Thursday night.

At about 7:45 p.m. the Ronkonkoma Fire Department was alerted for a motor vehicle accident on Foster Road, near Cheryl Drive. Chief Eric Cook was the first chief on scene and advised fire dispatch that it was a one-vehicle accident with a car into a tree and one person lying outside the car unconscious. Police say good Samaritans at the scene had pulled the man from the 2007 Ford Edge, which had been heading southbound on Foster Road prior to the crash.

Cook requested a rush on the ambulance and the crew of Squad 6 arrived quickly and secured the vehicle.
