Drunk Man Crashes Car, Flees With His 7-Year-Old Son: Police

BREAKING: The 32-year-old was arrested soon after he crashed into a parked vehicle early Sunday, police say.

RONKONKOMA, NY – A Centereach man was drunk when he crashed his car into a parked vehicle and then fled the scene with his 7-year-old son early New Year's Day, Suffolk Police said.

According to police, 32-year-old Julio Euceda was driving a 1998 Ford east on Johnson Avenue when his car struck an unoccupied 2004 Ford. Euceda and his 7-year-old son exited the vehicle and fled on foot west on Johnson Avenue, police said.

Fourth Precinct patrol officers responded and located Euceda and his son, who were not injured, a short distance away, police said.

Euceda is charged with aggravated driving while under the Influence of drugs or alcohol with a child passenger 15 years old or younger–a felony under Leandra's Law, acting in a manner to injure a child, first degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage and use of a vehicle without interlock device.
