FARMINGVILLE, NY — Even a 'Grinch' could not stop them.

The Farmingville Hills Chamber of Commerce is moving forward with its annual tree lighting ceremony at Triangle Park on Horseblock Road on Sunday. A deejay from Motivate Entertainment will start spinning holiday tunes at 4 p.m. while members of the community wait for the Farmingville and Holtsville fire departments to escort 'Santa' and his friends.

'Santa' will light the tree at around 5 p.m.

The chamber has participated in bringing holiday cheer to the community over the last several years, and in 2020, it purchased several hundred lights to adorn the tree. However, someone stole the year-old lights right off the tree last week, according to an email from the group.

But the Farmingville Fire Department came to the rescue with some extra lights to hang on the tree — foiling the plans of the Grinch (or Grinches).
