Fire Destroys Farmingville Home

No injuries reported in blaze that started Friday afternoon.

A fire ripped through a Farmingville home on Friday afternoon and then went back up in flames early Saturday morning.

On Friday at about 3 p.m. the Farmingville Fire Department was alerted for a reported basement fire at 92 Lenore Lane. Upon arrival, head chief Allen Licata was met with heavy smoke and flames from the home.

Help from surrounding departments such as Holtsville and Ronkonkoma was called in to fight the blaze that lasted over two hours in frigid temperatures.

The family was safely evacuated and no injuries were reported. A Brookhaven Town fire marshal and Suffolk County arson detectives were called in to investigate.

Hours later, at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, the Farmingville Fire Department was again called to the same location on Lenore Lane. Reports from dispatch said neighbors on the street were seeing heavy smoke coming from the boarded up house.

Fire department units again arrived on scene to a “re-kindle,” now a fully involved house fire that seemed even bigger than the one they fought just hours prior.

The fire again burned for well over two hours and no injuries were reported. The fire is still under investigation.
