Firefighters Quickly Knock Down Fire at Lake Ronkonkoma Diner

A fire broke out in the basement of a Lake Ronkonkoma diner late Tuesday night.

The Ronkonkoma Fire Department was activated for a reported commercial structure fire at the Island Lake Diner at 625 Portion Road. Upon arrival, commanding units were met with a light smoke condition from the basement of the building.

Assistance was called in from Farmingville and Nesconset fire departments. Ronkonkoma Fire Department Chief Jon Santoli advised crews of an active fire in the electrical panel of the basement, and requested PSEG Long Island to the scene immediately.

Crews made a quick knockdown of the fire without further incident. No injuries were reported.
