Good Samaritans Rescue Woman From Burning Vehicle On Long Island Expressway: Police

She was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital by police helicopter in critical condition from burns, police said.

HOLTSVILLE, NY — A 56-year-old Farmingville woman was rescued by good Samaritans from her burning vehicle after it crashed on the westbound Long Island Expressway, near Exit 62 in Holtsville, on Monday, Suffolk police said.

The vehicle struck the median, overturned on its side, and caught fire just after noon, police said, adding that the good Samaritans flipped the car right side up and removed the woman, who was being burned, and brought her over to the right shoulder.

She was given first aid before she was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital by police helicopter in critical condition, police said.
