Help Wanted: Job Postings in Sachem, Dec. 26

Contrary to popular belief, businesses are hiring in late December. Quite a few positions were posted across the internet this week by companies not wanting to wait until the calendar year turns. Here's a look at a handful of those positions: 

Upcoming Civil Service Exams: From time to time we'll post the upcoming civil service exams in Suffolk County. There are a good amount of exams in the new year so now is the time to get ready.

Nanny: Single mother in Ronkonkoma seeks nanny for 2 1/2 year old. Applicants need be available from 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Sunday. 

Field Technician: A Holbrook-based environmental consulting firm has an immediate opening for a field technician. This is a full-time position requiring some evening and weekend work. OSHA 10-hour construction class a plus. 

Sales Associate: Men's Warehouse is looking for a sales associate for its Lake Grove location. This is a full-time position. Three-years experience in sales or marketing, preferably fashion, is desired.

Banquet Manager: Sales experience in social and corporate environments is a plus for this Banquet Manager position at Villa Lombardis in Holbrook. Availability on weekends and holidays is a must. 

Front Desk/Night Audit and Overnight Houseman: Residence Inn by Marriott in Holtsville has two openings: front desk/night audit and overnight houseman. The first position requires checking in and checking out guests and is for a three-day shift (7 a.m. until 3 p.m. as well as two overnight shifts of 11 p.m. until 7 a.m.). The second position is full-time and requires linen handling as well as the delivery of items to guest's rooms. 

Building Management Specialist: The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) location in Holtsville has open position for a Building Management Specialist. This is a full-time position with a salary range of $77,585 - $100,859. Extensive knowledge of management principles and project management experience required.

Individual Nurse: Providing plenty of time to work on your resume, the Sachem Central School District is looking for a nurse to begin next September. Minimum requirements call for RN certification. This position requires working one-on-one with students with special needs.

Pizza counterperson: Gianna's Pizzeria is looking for a part-time counterperson for its Farmingville location. Weekends are a must. Personable and polite applicant sought as this is a customer-driven position. 

Lead Web Developer/Technical Manager: With headquarters at MacArthur Airport, CAMP, a leader in aviation management products and services, is looking for a a Lead Web Developer to oversee all aspects of analysis, design, planning, implementation and maintenance of product, while also overseeing the work flow of others. Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field is required, as well as three to seven years related experience. 

Hairstylist: Vital Image, a salon in Holbrook, is in need of a talented hairstylist. Commission and salary included with this position. 

Auto Technician: If you're willing to work for it, this part-time auto technician position at Holtsville Auto Repair could become full-time in the future. Right now, the position calls for someone familiar with diagnostics and repairs to work three to four days a week.
