Help Wanted: Job Postings in Sachem, Jan. 30

Sachem job openings posted on the internet are down this week. Not just from last week but in general. That’s not entirely doom and gloom as postings can be related to a handful of factors. On the positive side, here’s a look at some of the positions that were advertised:

Upcoming Civil Service Exams: From time to time we’ll post the upcoming civil service exams for positions in Suffolk County. As of this positing there are 11 between now and the end of March, most notably the open-competition exam for police officer.

Office Manager: Primary Care Center in Ronkonkoma has immediate opening for an office manager. This is a full-time position providing salary based on experience and full benefits. Managerial experience needed, IT and QuickBooks knowledge a plus.

General Manager: If you have three year’s experience as a restaurant manager than Boston Market might be the right fit for you. This local establishment is looking for a full-time manager to run its Lake Ronkonkoma location. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Dental Hygienist: Private practice dentist in Holbrook seeks part-time dental hygienist. Hours are on Tuesday and Thursday (1 p.m. until 8 p.m.) and Saturday (8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.). Candidate should be outgoing and great with people.

Diesel Mechanic: Ryder in Ronkonkoma is looking for a full-time diesel mechanic who will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance inspections and repairs.  Two years proven preventative mainenance, tire and brake experience preferred.

Server/Counter Help: Experience server and counter person is needed at Joe’s Pizza in Holbrook. This part-time position is primarily for afternoon and  evening shifts on the weekend. Experience with POS systems a plus.

Payroll Supervisor: Not much is listed regarding this full-time position with Baumann Bus other than the fact that the Ronkonkoma-based company is looking for a detailed-oriented person.

Sales Assistant: Tower Fasteners, a leading distributor of fasters on Long Island, is looking to fill a sales assistant position at its Holtsville office. This is a full-time position (8 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily) with an annual salary of $26,000. At least two years previous office experience needed.

Teller: This part-time teller position with Bank of America is just barely a part-time position. Hours a week required are 36, and during the first shift (Monday through Thursday 8:45 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.; Friday 8:45 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. and Saturday 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.). Previous cash handling and customer service experience required.

Companion/Care Giver: Immediate opening for a caregiver/companion to assist an elderly man in Holtsville. Position pays $100 daily. Experience, reliability and good communication skills are imperative.

Mail Clerk: Cargo Group of Holtsville has an immediate opening for a mail clerk. This is a part-time position (10 a.m. until 2 p.m. daily). Shipping and receiving experience preferred.
