Help Wanted: Job Postings in Sachem, March 6

The government reported that hiring went up and unemployment went down last week. Perhaps that is when all the local jobs were scooped up because there was not much posted across the Internet this week.

Here's a look at some of the positions that were posted:

Upcoming Civil Service Exams: From time to time we’ll post the upcoming civil service exams for positions in Suffolk County. As of this posting there are eight advertised, most notably the open-competition exam for police officer.

Customer service representative: Facilities firm in Holbrook seeks Customer Service Representative who can handle a fast-pace environment. Facilities background is a plus. Experience with Word and Excel required. Pay between $35,000-$45,000.

Sitter: A family in Holbrook is looking for a sitter to care for two children three times a week. Position requires being able to work from the early morning (5:30 a.m.) until mid afternoon (3:30 p.m., and until 5 p.m. on Friday). Oldest child is in first grade, youngest not yet in kindergarten. Pay is between $5 and $10 per hour.

Mechanic: P&G Fleet Service Inc. has an opening for a Mechanic ‘B’ at its Holtsville location. Hydraulic and generator repair experience a plus. Heath Insurance offered.

Purchasing Manager: H.A. Guden Co. Inc., a wholesale distributor of industrial hinges and related hardware items, has an opening in its Ronkonkoma location for a Purchasing Manager. Experience (2-5 years) in management needed, knowledge of sourcing and inventory management desired. Bonuses and benefit package offered.

Sales Rep: Located in the Smithhaven Mall, Metro PCS is looking for a sales representative who feels comfortable selling without forgetting about customer service. Full time and part time positions available. Weekend worked required. Weekday schedule is  Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Receptionist: Hawkins Avenue Animal Hospital in Ronkonkoma is looking for a receptionist. This entry level position is full time and requires excellent communication skills.

Dog Walker: Holbrook family in need of dog walker for one half hour each day, Monday through Friday. Dog needs to be walked between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. Position pays $10 per hour.

Data Collection Associate: This is a part-time position with Crossmark in Farmingville. The successful candidate will be proficient in basic PC skills, have reliable transportation, good organization skills and the abilitiy to work independently. Major responsibilities include scanning UPC codes, collecting promotional information, inputting price information and entering survey data.

Assistant Manager: Ronkonkoma recently had a dollar store close in town (the one by Sears Hardware) but will soon get a new one in the Dollar Tree Stores which is looking for an assistant manager for its opening. Position is full time and  offers benefits package.  Excellent customer service skills and previous retail experience desired.
