A glimpse at local positions currently available.

For the second week in a row the internet featured a healthy supply of local jobs after a slump in early April. This week,preparation for the nice-weather season can be see in some of the positions advertised. Here's a sample of what is out there:
Secretary: Ronkonkoma-based construction company seeks secretary. Position is full time and best for someone with construction experience that lives within a half hour of the area. Versatility in handling a wide variety of task is expected, as is knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook.
Plant Mechanic/Welder: Working for Covanta Energy in Ronkonkoma, the plant mechanic/welder is responsible for the inspection and maintenance work required for rotating machinery and equipment. This is a physically demanding position (replacing pumps,modifying pipes) and requires three to five years experience. Formal technical and or apprenticeship training a plus.

Customer Service Rep: J. Kings, a leader in food service based out of Holtsville, is looking for a customer service representative. Acting as a liaison between the company and customers is the scope of the position so previous customer interaction experience desired. Pay is $12 per hour. Attractive benefits package offered.
Swimming Pool Technician: In preparation for the summer season, Paul Romanelli & Son Pool Service out of Holbrook is looking to hire a swimming pool technician. At least two years experience in the pool service industry and knowledge of pump and motor repair is needed. High School education and valid drivers license a must.

Lawn Maintenance Laborer: This opportunity with Island Green Landscaping in Farmingville is great for students home from college. Long hours required. This position calls for experience using commercial lawn maintenance equipment. Experience operating a truck and trailer preferred.
Sitter: A Selden family seeks sitter to care for a six-month-old baby boy and an elementary school-aged childen. This is a temporary position lasting two weeks and requiring working various hours Monday through Friday.
Assistant Community Director: As an assistant community director with Concord Management in Farmingville, you will assist in the the overall operation of community apartments. Leasing, renewals, recertification and accounting are apart of this position. Ideal candidate is detailed oriented, comfortable with computers and a sales environment. Knowledge of the Federal Low Income Housing Tax Credit preferred.
Bartenders: Listed only as a Local Irish pub, a Selden establishment seeks seasoned bartender with a following for the day shift, as well as a young bartender for the night shift.
Project Director: This is a grant-funded position at Suffolk County Community College in Selden and will last until June, 30, 2013. As a project director, the right candidate will coordinate a team of college management personnel to execute tasks in a fast-paced, high pressure environment. A master’s degree and five (5) years experience in education administration preferred. Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills required.
Administrative assistant: Busy Real Estate office in Lake Ronkonkoma in need of a part-time administrative assistant. Real estate background desired. Strong phone skills and weekend availability required. Pay is $10 per hour for 20 hours per week. Room to grow.
Physical Therapy Assistant: This full-time position is with Island Musculoskeletal Care in Patchogue. Pay is negotiable and primary responsibilities include assisting physical therapists with ortho/rehab practices.
