Long Island is about to get a little taste of summer in May. Temperatures will challenge record highs this week, just days after many locals cranked up the heat in their homes.
Temperatures will top out near 80 degrees on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, according to the National Weather Service. On Thursday, it will be closer to 90 and it's likely the daily record high of 84 degrees at Long Island MacArthur Airport will be eclipsed. The average daily high for this time of year is 68 degrees.
The summer-like weather in store for much of this week will not mark a end to cool conditions for the month, according to AccuWeather.
